  1. Learn How to Test Urban Soil, Bring Your Soil to be Tested

    Join OSU Extension Cuyahoga County and Summit County to learn how to test your soil. Urban soils can be a source of food production, environmental resilience, and community beautification but may require revitalization to provide these benefits. Most urban soils do not have harmful levels of contaminants; however, they should be tested as a precaution. A soil test can also give you information about soil fertility. OSU Extension Educator Maggie Riviera will discuss why it is important to test our soil and how to take a soil sample and submit it to a lab.

  2. Summer Sprout is Accepting Applications for 2024

  3. Chicken Keeping Class

    Join OSU Extension Cuyahoga County for an evening to learn about getting started raising chickens in your backyard. This workshop will take on June 15th, 2023, from 6 to 7:30pm. Topics for discussion include breed selection, safe egg handling, chicken health, zoning requirements, housing nutrition and more. This course fulfills the educational requirements for Lakewood City Hen Keeping Ordinance and presents all attendees with a certificate of completion.

    The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is making available up to $7.5 million for grants through its Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production (OUAIP). Urban Agriculture and Innovation Production (UAIP) competitive grants initiate or expand efforts of farmers, gardeners, citizens, government officials, schools, and other stakeholders in urban areas and suburbs.
